Platelet count normal range
Platelets help your blood clot. A normal count is 150,000 to 450,000 per microlitre, which reports often write as 150 to 450.
Check your platelets
Copy the numbers from your report. Fill in only what you have.
Your results appear here as you type.
For adults. The range printed on your report comes first, because labs differ. Nothing you type leaves your browser.
What low platelets can mean
- Dengue and other viral infections.
- Some medicines.
- Immune conditions, or liver disease.
- Rarely, a bone marrow problem.
Platelets in dengue
Platelets commonly fall on days 3 to 7 of dengue, and doctors follow them with repeat tests. Most people recover without a transfusion, and how you feel matters as much as the number.
Go to hospital straight away if
- There is bleeding from the gums or nose, or black stools.
- There is severe stomach pain or repeated vomiting.
- The person is drowsy, restless, or has cold skin.

What is a dangerous platelet count?
The risk of bleeding rises as platelets fall, particularly below about 20,000. Very low counts need a doctor the same day.
Does papaya leaf juice raise platelets?
The evidence is limited. Do not let it delay medical care, and tell your doctor if you are using it.
How is 150 on my report different from 150,000?
They are the same. Labs often write the count in thousands.
