PMDC verification: how to check a doctor

Anyone can check whether a doctor or dentist is registered in Pakistan, for free, on the PMDC website. It takes about a minute, and clinics should do it before hiring anyone.

How to search the PMDC register

  1. Open pmdc.pk and find “Search for Doctors Online” on the home page.
  2. Search by registration number, full name or father’s name.
  3. Open the result and read the licence validity and registered qualifications.

What to check in the result

  • The name matches the person, including the father’s name.
  • The licence is still valid.
  • The qualifications match what the doctor claims. A specialist title should appear as a registered qualification.
  • The registration number matches the one on the certificate, prescription pad or CV.

If you find nothing

A missing result does not prove that someone is unregistered. Try these first:

  • Search by registration number rather than name, because spellings vary.
  • Try the name as it would appear on a degree.
  • Search by father’s name.
  • Ask the doctor for their certificate, or contact the PMDC helpline.

For clinic owners hiring doctors

  • Search every doctor before they start, including visiting consultants.
  • Keep a copy of the certificate and note the validity date.
  • Check again when that date passes. PMDC gave inactive registrations six months to renew in August 2026.

Verification for jobs abroad

Doctors moving overseas usually need a Certificate of Good Standing, not a search result. Apply on your PMDC Dashboard. PMDC lists the fee as PKR 7,000.

Try your registration number first. If it still does not appear, check your account on the PMDC portal, because your registration may need renewal, or contact the PMDC helpline.
