Pregnancy calculator: due date and weeks
Enter the first day of your last period to see your estimated due date (EDD), how far along you are, and which trimester you are in.
Your result appears here as you type.
How the due date is worked out
Doctors use Naegele’s rule: 280 days, or 40 weeks, from the first day of the last period. It assumes a 28-day cycle, so this calculator moves the date if your cycle is longer or shorter.
Pregnancy trimesters
| Trimester | Weeks |
|---|---|
| First | Up to 13 weeks |
| Second | 14 to 27 weeks |
| Third | 28 weeks to birth |
How exact is the date?
Few babies arrive on their due date, and it is only an estimate. An early ultrasound is the most reliable way to date a pregnancy, especially if your periods are irregular or you are unsure of the date.

Still unsure? Send us the question and a person — not a bot — will answer it.
How do I calculate my due date?
Add 280 days to the first day of your last period. If that was 1 January, your due date is about 8 October.
What does EDD mean?
EDD stands for estimated date of delivery. It is the same as your due date.
What if I do not remember my last period?
See a doctor. An ultrasound can date the pregnancy without it.
When should I see a doctor?
As soon as you know you are pregnant. See one urgently for bleeding, severe pain, or if your baby moves less than usual.
