PMDC registration: how to apply and renew

Doctors and dentists in Pakistan register with the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) through its online portal. This guide covers the licence types, the steps, the fees PMDC publishes and the renewal notice of August 2026.

Which licence do you need?

PMDC issues different licences at different stages of your career.

Licence	Who it is for
Provisional	New graduates. Your university confirms that you passed your final professional exam and completed the programme. You then get a provisional licence and can join a house job.
Full	Doctors and dentists who have finished the house job. PMDC requires one year of house job to be eligible.
Temporary	Foreign nationals, who apply through the Temporary License form on the portal.

How to apply on the PMDC portal

Provisional licences, renewals and Certificates of Good Standing all follow the same steps on portal.pmdc.pk.

Create an account on the doctor portal and open your Dashboard.
Choose the application form you need.
Fill in the form and attach your documents and photos.
Choose a payment method and submit.

PMDC fees

These are the fees PMDC lists in its FAQ. It does not list a fee there for a full licence or for renewal, so check the portal before you pay.

Renewal, and the 2026 notice

You renew from the same Dashboard. If you are late, PMDC adds a late fee plus the fee for the remaining period, and a further extension fee applies once you are more than six months past validity.

In August 2026, The News reported a PMDC notice giving holders of inactive registrations six months to validate and renew them. Registrations left unrenewed for more than ten continuous years will be permanently removed from the register. The report gave no fee or procedure, so go through the portal, and do not wait for the deadline.

If something goes wrong

You cannot apply for a provisional licence: your university may not have uploaded your data to the graduation portal yet. Contact your college or university.
Your house job is complete but not showing: the teaching hospital must send the completion certificate to PMDC within ten days of the end of the house job. Ask the hospital whether it has gone.
Your address or personal details have changed: use the change-in-data form on your Dashboard.

Where do I apply for PMDC registration?

Online, through the PMDC portal at portal.pmdc.pk. Create an account, choose the form on your Dashboard, attach your documents and pay.

What is the PMDC provisional licence fee?

PMDC lists PKR 3,000 for a local graduate and PKR 10,000 for a foreign graduate. Check the portal for the current amount before you pay.

Do I need a house job for a full PMDC licence?

Yes. PMDC says a house job is required for one year to be eligible for a full licence.

What happens if I do not renew my PMDC registration?

PMDC charges late fees. In 2026 it also gave inactive registrations six months to renew, and said registrations unrenewed for more than ten continuous years will be permanently removed.

Is PMC the same as PMDC?

The regulator was called the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) for a time. Today it is the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, at pmdc.pk, so ignore older guides that send you to a PMC site.
